“My husband and I got pregnant on our first time trying, but unfortunately lost that baby when I was 12 weeks pregnant. We were told we needed to have 3 consecutive losses before any testing could be done to try to determine the cause. I was also told my history of labs showing positive TPO antibodies (indicating the start of Hashimotos) would absolutely not have been the cause. We were repeatedly told that the baby likely had a chromosomal issue that would have happened at random and was more than likely nothing we could do to prevent it from happening again, that it was just a matter of chance.
